Thrift Flip Global Upcycling Challenge 2026
Official Rules
1. Who Can Join
- Open worldwide to anyone age 18 or older.
- Not eligible: Upcyclers employees, contractors, affiliates, sponsors, and their immediate family members.
- Void where prohibited by law.
2. What is a Thrift Flip?
A thrift flip is transforming thrifted clothing, accessories, or materials into something new and one of a kind.
3. Challenge Dates
- Starts: July 1, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. PST
- Ends: September 26, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. PST
4. How to Enter
Enter a thrift flip made from thrifted clothing, accessories, or materials.
You can enter in one of two ways:
Option 1: List a Product (U.S. Only)
- List your thrift flip for sale on Upcyclers with photos or a video (20 seconds or less) and a description.
Option 2: Post a Creation (Showcase Only)
- Post your thrift flip on Upcyclers with photos or a video (20 seconds or less) and a description.
To qualify, your entry must:
- Be submitted between July 1, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. PST and September 26, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. PST.
- Include #thriftflip in the description.
5. Good to Know
- Entries must use thrifted clothing, accessories, or materials.
- If your original post already has hearts, you may submit the same project by creating a new post. You do not need to delete your original post.
- You may submit multiple entries, but only your highest-ranked entry can advance as a Top 10 Most Loved finalist (one finalist spot per creator).
- Only hearts received during the community voting period will count.
- Include clear photos or a video (20 seconds or less).
- Include a short description of your process or materials used.
- Your entry must be your original work.
- Do not use copyrighted images, music, videos, brand logos, designer labels, or other content unless you have permission to use them.
- No purchase is necessary to enter or win.
6. What You Win
- One Grand Prize winner receives $500 USD + bragging rights as the winner of the Thrift Flip Global Upcycling Challenge 2026.
- Prize will be paid within 14 days via PayPal or bank transfer.
- The winner is responsible for any applicable taxes or fees.
7. How It Works
Round 1: Community Voting
- Community voting is open July 1, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. PST through September 26, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. PST.
- Share your entry and get hearts during the community voting period.
- Only hearts received during the community voting period will count.
- When community voting ends, the Top 10 Most Loved entries advance to the Finals.
Round 2: Judges' Review
- Judges score the Top 10 Most Loved finalists using the judging criteria below.
8. Judging Criteria (100 Points Total)
- Creativity & Originality — 40 points
- Craftsmanship & Quality — 30 points
- Sustainability Impact — 20 points
- Storytelling — 10 points
Tie-breaker: If two entries receive the same total score, the entry with the higher Creativity & Originality score will be ranked higher.
9. Winner Announcement
- Winner announced on September 30, 2026.
- Announced on Upcyclers and official social media channels.
10. Rights to Your Work
- You retain ownership of your creation and content.
- By entering, you grant Upcyclers permission to use your photos, videos, and descriptions to promote the challenge, the platform, and future campaigns.
- You confirm that your work is original and does not infringe on the rights of others.
11. Privacy
- Your information will only be used to administer the challenge, contact winners, and send updates if you opt in.
12. General Conditions
- Upcyclers reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the challenge if necessary.
- Any attempt to manipulate hearts or engagement may result in disqualification.
- All decisions are final.
13. Governing Law
- Governed by the laws of California, USA.
- Any disputes will be resolved in San Francisco County, California.
