General FAQ

What is upcycling?

Upcycling is all about turning old stuff into something better. You take what already exists—like worn-out clothes or extra fabric—and flip it into something fresh, practical, and one-of-a-kind. It's how you flex your creativity, cut waste, and give pieces a second chance. That could mean mending, altering, thrift flipping, or reworking materials in your own style.

What's the difference between upcycling and recycling?

Upcycling gives old stuff a creative upgrade—whether you're reworking clothes, flipping vintage, or starting fresh with deadstock. It's about making something better without making more waste.

Recycling breaks things down to raw materials using machines and energy. It can be helpful, but sometimes the process lowers the quality of the original material.

Who are upcyclers?

Upcyclers are next-gen designers and remix artists turning fashion waste into something better. They're front-liners in the fight against overproduction—leading with style, purpose, and a whole lot of care for the planet.

What makes Upcyclers different?

Upcyclers is the only hybrid platform where upcycling meets secondhand, powered by next-gen tools made for creators. We're talking AI design to spark ideas, shoppable videos to help you get seen (and sold), and a learning hub to level up your skills. Everything you need to build your brand and shake up the circular fashion game—on your own terms.

What can I sell?

You can sell:

  • Upcycled fashion and goods
  • Secondhand and vintage items
  • Deadstock, fabric scraps, and remnants
  • Discarded waste, overstock, and imperfect pieces
  • Notions, trims, zippers, buttons, and other sewing supplies

Everything that's pre-existing, and anything headed for landfills or incineration, can still be upcycled.

What are pre-existing materials?

They're existing items—like leftover fabric, vintage clothes, or old supplies—that can be reused instead of being bought new.

How do I Start Selling or Posting

  1. Sign up at upcyclers.com
  2. Go to your account and click Sell Now or Post
  3. Add your info and start listing

What's a post?

A post is a photo or video that shows your upcycled work, your vibe, or your process. It drops into the Upcycled Feed and adds to a global stream of fresh ideas.

Anyone can post. Even if selling isn't in your country, you can still show your stuff and be seen. Every post helps grow the movement and inspires others to upcycle.

Do I have to sell a product to post?

Nope. You can post videos or photos of your upcycled pieces even if they're not for sale.

Do I need a video to list a product?

You don't have to—but we highly recommend it. A short video (5–20 seconds) can bring your listing to life, tell your story, and show off your skills. It helps buyers connect with your style and makes your product stand out in the feed. If you're trying to get noticed, video is your best friend.

What are shoppable videos?

Shoppable videos (VIDZ) are videos up to 20 seconds long that show your upcycled transformations, techniques, or fashion. They tell your story, help buyers connect with your style, and drive sales. Soon, buyers will be able to shop directly from your videos.

Is There a Fee to Sell?

Nope! There’s no fee to list or sell your items on Upcyclers. You keep 100% of your item price and set the shipping fee. A 5% platform fee plus up to $1 per transaction. This supports the marketplace and helps us grow. The total price—including the item price, shipping cost, and fees—is clearly shown in the product listing. At checkout, buyers see a full breakdown before they buy. You keep 100% of your item price and set the shipping fee.

How is shipping handled?

You ship your item within 3 days using USPS, UPS, FedEx, or DHL. Add the tracking number in your seller dashboard.

How Much Does Shipping Cost?

You decide. Set a shipping price based on size, weight, and where it's going.

Can buyers return stuff?

Only if the item is super different from the listing. Buyers cover return shipping; if something's off, we'll jump in to help sort it out.

What if I can't find the item I sold?

Email us right away so we can help fix it.

Can I Contact Buyers?

Not directly, but we've got your back. We handle all buyer messages to keep things smooth and safe for everyone. If there's ever an issue with an order, just contact us, and we'll handle it quickly.

When do I get paid?

You get paid 3 days after the buyer marks the item delivered. You can cash out to your bank every 2 weeks. Easy.

What if I have old clothes but no time to upcycle?

You can sell them as-is or team up with an upcycler who matches your style.

How does Upcyclers help the planet?

We keep clothes and materials in the game, not the landfill. Upcycling just one cotton t-shirt can save up to 2,700 liters of water and cut 4 to 6 kilograms of carbon emissions. Less waste, less impact, more creativity. When you make something new out of what already exists, you're helping the planet and making fashion more sustainable.
